J.F. Welder Heirs, Ltd. is a Texas family ranching enterprise which
was founded in 1878. James F. Welder, a grandson of Col. James Power,
began this business which today is one of the oldest undivided family
ranching partnerships in Texas.
James F. Welder was a strong leader in ranching and banking in early
Texas history. Today, the family continues his legacy of a unified
family and strong business. The family is committed to keeping its
ranching heritage alive for generations to come.
- Cattle Business: The partnership operates a commercial
cow-calf herd (1/4 Brahman - 3/4 Hereford Cross) on a portion
of the ranch land owned by the family.
- Leases: Farming, hunting, grazing and other surface use
leases make up a significant portion of the family's business.
Oil and gas royalties are generated through mineral leases to
exploration companies.
- Other Investments: The family is expanding its business
through the investment of retained earnings and other sources
of capital.
